Winter Camp (in Chinese: 冬令营 ; pinyin: dōng lìng yíng ;) in China is usually regarded as an opportunity to have activities organized by high schools, colleges or companies to train participants' will, social skills and ability to live in the wild. Because of Chinese people's rigorous characteristic and traditional education conception, winter camps are mostly designed and held by schools to improve junior high school students and college students' performance in study or certain programs such as foreign languages and qualifications. While in western countries winter camp usually refers to wilderness camping in cold seasons with high quality and lightness of gear to seek for joy and even adventure experience.

For international students who want to study in China, winter camp on a university's website equals short-term programs(For most situations, refers regular or intensive Chinese programs) in winter.
