1.Wandering in Hutong
If some ask me what to see and do in China,I will tell him or her to go to a Hutong.Hutong is a symbol of Beijing although it has changed a lot since Beijing began to play a modern role instead of itshistorical part.Lots of people hold a special memory of Hutong as they moved far away from downtown. If you come to Beijing for a visit, most tour guides will take you to visit a hutong, probably located near the Drum Tower , some of which have beenconverted into tourist attractions, such as Nanluoguxiang.Even if Hutong is one of my favorite areas, due to its combinationof old Beijing and new trends, for years it has been losing its charm. It's really pretty and completely artificial. If you really have a willing to experience what city life was like years ago,we suggest that you get lost in another area. The area which I'm talking about is now located in the south west part of Tiananmen Square and is probably the only hutong area which has remained practically unchanged within the city.It is quite easy to get there. You will meet some old people in Hutong and enjoy a whole afternoon watching them playing chess and chatting with several cups of tea.Maybe you can learn Chinese by that. That’s a life almost every beijinger used to had and long for now.
2.Have a dream on the wild Great Wall
This is one of the most recommendable plans. There is a old saying:One who fails to reach the Great Wall is not a hero.So the Great Wall is a place represents for challenge for almost every one who comes to China. The Wild Great Wall is the part that haven't been restored. Some sections are impressive, practically deserted and their stretches are relatively long.So they are ideal for doing a two day excursion camping on the wall. The most popular route is the one that starts at the Jinshanling section and ends at Simatai. It's a trip of about 12 km which starts in the rarely traveled section of Jinshanling and ends at Simatai, which is more popular, making it easy to find transportation back to Beijing. While taking a guide is not so necessary because it's really hard to get lost as you don't even have to distinguish the direction, the only thing have to dois to follow the wall, one tip you should keep in mind is that the route isn't exactly easy.Rocks can be detached in your step and some of the sections require you to climb up vertically .You should also remember that you are going to be practically alone, so if you have an accident, finding help will be a difficult task.
