In order to better help international students with their study in China, Beijing Government sets up Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) as a choice of Chinese local government scholarship for them applying China scholarship. Before considering applying of Chinese Local Government Scholarships, applicants can take a look at the target cities in advance.
Beijing Government Scholarship is a partial scholarship managed by Beijing government aiming at international students applying Chinese Local Government Scholarship.
This Chinese Government Scholarship targets at international students studying as junior college students, bachelors, masters, doctors, Chinese Language students, senior scholars, general scholars, and exchange students as well as students with special contributions in Beijing.
There are age limits for this Chinese Government scholarship: applicants of bachelor degree should be under 30; applicants of master degree should be under 35; applicants of doctor degree should be under 40; applicants of general scholars should be under 50; and applicants for long term language studies should be under 60. In addition, applicants should be eligible for enrollment criteria. At last, applicants should have corresponding Chinese proficiencies with related certificates.
Generally there will be a Chinese Learning Study prior to major study. Applicants of this Chinese Government Scholarship can directly enter into major study if their specialties are taught in English. In addition, the duration of this Chinese government scholarship normally equals to the duration of study defined when students are enrolled, that is, applicants pursuing degree studies in Beijing enjoy a duration of the Chinese local government scholarship of no more than 4 academic years, and the other applicants enjoy a duration of no more than 1 academic year.
Applicants of this Chinese Government Scholarship can directly apply to universities in Beijing that are eligible for this Chinese Local Government Scholarship or apply via CUCAS. Generally, the application deadline of this Chinese government scholarship is the end of February. For more detailed application information, applicants could consult local universities or pay attention to CUCUAS Scholarship platform.
This Chinese Government Scholarship only covers a waiver of tuition fees according to the following 5 standards: applicants of bachelor degrees can enjoy 20,000 RMB per person per year; applicants of master degrees can enjoy 30,000 per person per year; applicants of doctor degrees can enjoy 40,000 per person per year; applicants of senior major studies or long term language studies enjoy 10,000 RMB per person per year; applicants of exchange studies and those with special contributions can enjoy 5,000 RMB per person per year. If the scholarship is not enough for winners’ tuition fees, they should pay the rest by themselves.
The related universities in Beijing will assess all the applications. Then, they will send all the relevant admission documents to winners 3 months before their studies.
Winners of this Chinese Local Government Scholarship should take part in the yearly review made by the host universities in order to keep enjoying their scholarships in the next year.
